Roya D. Hajbandeh graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2006 with a degree in History and Spanish in the Liberal Arts Honors and Spanish Honors program.  In 2009, she earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin Law School at Madison.  While in law school, she authored an article that was selected for publication in the Wisconsin International Law Journal.

Ms. Hajbandeh moved to Arizona to be closer to family.  Although born in Memphis, Tennessee, Ms. Hajbandeh's roots are from the Middle East. Ms. Hajbandeh has travelled the world learning about their cultures, languages, people, and food. She has taught English in China, and has taken university classes in Turkey and Spain.

She has also engaged in many community service projects in several countries in Central America and Eastern Europe. These exposures to various cultures have enabled her to understand the immigration and social issues facing people from many parts of the world. She has a passion for justice, and is always willing to serve and make a difference in people's lives.

In her free time, Ms. Hajbandeh currently is involved in programs of empowering young teenagers through groups that channel the surging energies of junior youth enabling them to initiate and lead projects to improve their own communities.
