Arizona O-1 Visa Lawyer
The United States has nonimmigrant visa programs that allow artists to travel to the United States to work or perform as individuals, groups or teams. At Kanu & Associates, P.C., our attorneys counsel and represent musicians, actors, artists, entertainers and athletes, and their employers. We seek to make the visa application process as smooth as possible, making sure that clients complete all forms correctly and file required documentation in a timely way.
Visa Types for Artists and Athletes
The primary visa categories for artists, entertainers and athletes are:
- O-1 visas: These visas are for individuals of extraordinary ability or achievement in music, drama, acting, sculpture, painting, dancing, athletics, photography and other fields. These visas are limited to individuals who can demonstrate that they received awards, were the subjects of published materials about their work, produced original material of major significance to the field, judged others' work and other indicators of extraordinary ability or achievement.
- O-2 visas: These visas apply to support personnel such as trainers, coaches, makeup artists, instrument repair technicians and others who assist artists and athletes during specific performances.
- P-1 visas: This category of visa applies to individual or team athletes or members of entertainment groups that are internationally recognized.
- P-2 visas: These visas are issued to artists or entertainers who participate in reciprocal exchange programs.
- P-3 visas: This type of visa is available to artists and entertainers who participate in culturally unique programs.
- Q-1 visas: These visas are for participants in international cultural exchange programs intended to share the history and culture of an individual's home country.
Artists and others who are not being paid for their work may be able to enter the U.S. under visitor visas (B-1 or B-2). Others may be eligible for employment visas. Our attorneys can advise you about this and all other matters related to visas for artists and athletes.
