About Sally J. Nyemba

Ms. Nyemba is an Arizona native, and a first-generation attorney, whose parents migrated to the United States from Harare, Zimbabwe in 1986. As the daughter of Zimbabwean immigrants who made great effort to succeed in this country, Ms. Nyemba appreciates not only cultural differences but also the importance of a solid education and hard work. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Nyemba attended Arizona State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After obtaining her degree from Arizona State University, Ms. Nyemba proceeded to law school, and attended Arizona Summit Law School where she graduated with Honors Cum Lauded and earned her Juris Doctor degree.
After Law School Ms. Nyemba served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Chief Judge Samuel Thumma at the Arizona Court of Appeals Division I. While clerking she drafted numerous appellate memorandums and decisions ranging between criminal law, family law and civil matters.
Ms. Nyemba also is a former Maricopa County Public Defender. During her time as a Public Defender, Ms. Nyemba gained significant experience in criminal and DUI matters. Prior to joining Kanu & Associates, P.C., Ms. Nyemba defended numerous individuals accused of misdemeanor and felony crimes throughout Maricopa County.
Despite her undeniable passion and vested interest in the Criminal Justice system, Ms. Nyemba as a Zimbabwean woman, has always had a desire to serve as an immigration attorney. Given the experiences that she witnessed her parents endure, and her personal ties to the immigrant community, immigration law has always been at the core of her aspirations. Ms. Nyemba serves as a Junior Attorney here at Kanu & Associates, P.C., and oversees the immigration defense division.
Ms. Nyemba is passionate about giving back to a community that has helped shape her into the woman that she is and works assiduously at reshaping and reforming immigration laws daily.
