Chinwe C. Kanu, Esq. Associate Attorney

Bio

Chinwe C. Kanu, Esq. has more than 10 years of professional experience serving vulnerable adults. She brings a unique combination of legal knowledge, investigative experience, and compassion to every client she represents.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Kanu served with Arizona Adult Protective Services (APS) and the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), where she investigated allegations of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation involving vulnerable adults residing in homes, assisted living facilities, nursing facilities, and other residential settings. Her work required collaboration with families, healthcare professionals, social workers, law enforcement, and the courts to ensure the safety and protection of adults who could no longer protect themselves.

Today, Chinwe C. Kanu uses that extensive experience to help families throughout New Mexico navigate the legal process of obtaining adult guardianship and conservatorship when a loved one is no longer able to make safe or informed decisions. She understands the emotional and legal challenges families face and is committed to providing knowledgeable, compassionate, and effective legal representation throughout the guardianship process.

In addition to adult guardianship matters, Ms. Kanu assists clients with estate planning, helping individuals and families prepare powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and other essential planning documents designed to protect their loved ones and preserve their wishes.

Her background gives her a distinct advantage in recognizing signs of vulnerability, understanding complex family dynamics, and advocating for individuals who require legal protection. Clients appreciate her integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to serving older adults, adults with disabilities, and individuals who need a trusted legal advocate.

Whether you are seeking guardianship for an aging parent, an adult child with disabilities, or a loved one experiencing dementia or another condition affecting decision-making capacity, Chinwe C. Kanu is committed to helping New Mexico families navigate the legal system with confidence, compassion, and respect.
