Phoenix Visitor Visas Attorney

Helping Clients with Temporary Visitor Visas

To enter the United States as a temporary visitor, you must obtain some type of non-immigrant visa. These visas require the holder to demonstrate to the U.S. Consulate or Embassy abroad that he or she will not remain in the U.S. on a permanent basis.

If you have experienced any difficulty gaining a visitor visa, an immigrants’ attorney can review your case and determine the best course of action. We can help with a change or extension of any current visitor visa as well.

Types of Visitor Visas

The U.S. welcomes visitors who come for a variety of reasons. An individual's stay will before a limited period of time, and will be subject to specific restrictions according to the reason why your visa was issued.

The following are the two types of visas available for visitors:

  • B-1 Visa – Given to those who are interested in conducting business in the United States. A person of interest must describe your financial arrangements for the entire trip and outline the itinerary.
  • B-2 Visa – Given to those who are interested in visiting for pleasure, for health-related reasons, or for short-term educational visits.

Some less common visas also exist for foreign nationals traveling through the U.S. to another country as well as crew in sea vessels or international airlines.

Applying for a Visitor Visa

The application process for a visitor visa can vary depending on whether you apply at an embassy or consulate. However, you will generally need to have the following on hand:

  • A completed form DS-160, which can be filled out online
  • A recent photo
  • Proof of funding for your trip
  • Proof of ties to your home country
  • A valid passport

You will then need to schedule an interview at the consulate or embassy, where you will provide your receipt for your fees and confirmation you filled out form DS-160.
