Bio

Solomon O. Kanu, Esq. is the founder and managing attorney of Kanu & Associates, P.C. With more than two decades of legal experience, he represents individuals, families, employers, investors, and business owners in immigration, business immigration, employer compliance, estate planning, and related business matters.

A first-generation immigrant, Attorney Kanu brings both professional experience and personal understanding to the challenges his clients face. He has represented clients from more than 20 countries and regularly assists with family- and employment-based immigration, removal defense, asylum, waivers, naturalization, consular processing, investment immigration, and employer compliance.

Attorney Kanu earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and holds degrees in economics and business finance. He is admitted to practice in Arizona, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

His practice is guided by a clear purpose: to protect his clients’ families, futures, businesses, assets, and legacies through knowledgeable legal representation and personalized strategies.

Education

Solomon O. Kanu graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in 1999. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Economics from M.D. University Rohtak, India and a Master’s degree in Business Finance from M.S. University of Baroda, India.

While in law school, Mr. Kanu gained invaluable experience working as a law clerk for the Presiding Judge of the 54th District Court in Lansing, Michigan and with the California Attorney General’s Office in the Licensing Division. Mr. Kanu handled cases dealing with license revocations of registered nurses, pharmacists, dentists, general contractors, auto mechanics, and others.

Experience & Compassion

Mr. Kanu was admitted to the practice of law by the Arizona Supreme Court in October 2001. Since then, he has focused on immigration law and related matters. He has represented individuals from at least 20 different countries in immigration matters and has appeared before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) across the United States as well as immigration courts nationwide. In addition to his immigration practice, he assists clients with small business concerns and real estate matters.

As a first-generation immigrant, Mr. Kanu understands the challenges involved in moving to and building a life in the United States. His goal is to help make that journey smoother for those who follow.
